What does unshaven FUE involve?

Unshaven FUE skips the very short donor-area shave that conventional FUE uses to expose each follicle's angle for accurate punching, either forgoing shaving entirely or hiding thin shaved lines beneath longer hair. The recipient area can sometimes stay unshaved too, an option more often available for women and smaller sessions.

Why is unshaven FUE harder?

In unshaven FUE, long hair hides each follicle's exit angle, which the punch must follow, slowing extraction and lengthening the out-of-body time for early grafts. Each graft needs individual trimming, spacing is harder to judge without a clear view of the field, and transection risk rises in less experienced hands.

What are the realistic limits of unshaven FUE?

Fully unshaven sessions usually produce fewer grafts than a shaved session would allow, so clinics offering very large unshaven procedures should be asked directly how they manage extraction speed and out-of-body time. A common middle path is partially shaving narrow strips that are then hidden beneath the hair above.
